DAY TO DAY PROGRAM
Day 1: Arrival to Kittilä
Departure from a Finair destination in Europe to Kittilä – Finish Lapland. Our local representative will meet you in the airport upon arrival and take you to Muonio for stay at either Hotel Harriniva or Jeris. You will stay in a double room at the cosy hotel – or upgrade to a cabin with private facilities. Dinner is included this first night.
Day 2: Visit to reindeer farm
Enjoy your breakfast before departure to the local reindeer farm. Here you will get a chance to meet the animals, feed them and also practice to catch them with a lasso. Afterwards you will try your driver skills, as a tour in a reindeer sledge is offered – almost 7km through the forrest before you return to an bonfire lunch at the farm. Back at the hotel you will have the afternoon for leisure. You can go skiing or try snowshoes – most of all we recommend you to try the sauna before dinner.
Day 3: Snowmobile drive
Enjoy breakfast before today adventure on snow mobile. We start with a briefing before you 2 and 2 share a snowmobile and take off into the arctic with your guide and group. The tour is approx 5 hours and we expect to go as far as 60-80 kilometters before returning. You will pass the forrest covered in snow, frozen lakes and lunch will once again be cooked over open fire. Back at the hotel you will have the afternoon at leisure before dinner.
Day 4: 2 days dog sledge adventure
After breakfast we will take you to the dog yard. 400 huskies lives here and today you will get a chance to get to know them better. After a briefing about the dogs you will be taught to drive the and handle a dog sledge before you are introduced to your own team of dogs. You will be the musher of this group of dogs for the next 2 days . The tour is guided and before you take off the guide will tell you about the route to the wilderness cabin located approx. 25km from the dog yard. You will spend the night in the cabin with other travellers and everyone will participate in cooking tonights dinner over open fire. Remember to keep an eye open for the northern lights, as you will have the perfect conditions away from the light pollution of the town.
Day 5: Return back to town
After breakfast you will start the return journey back to town. Arrival to your hotel late afternoon, where you can enjoy dinner and a sauna visit before bed time.
Day 6-7: Days at leisure
These two days you can spend just as you please. You will have full board included at the hotel. Also you can borrow ski and snow shoes for free a the hotel for a day of adventure outside. If you wish to buy more excursions, you can do this locally with the reception of the hotel.
Day 8: Departure
Breakfast at the hotel before return transfer to Kittilä airport. From here you will return to your Finair destination in Europe after hopefully some magical days in Laplands winter wonder land.
